​Berkhamstead’s claim to fame is that here the English finally surrendered to William the Conquerer in 1066!
We’ll start out from Berkhamstead Station (ample free parking) passing through rolling fields, woods, and the picturesque villages of Frithsden, and Nettleden, with a lunch stop at the Bridgewater Arms at Little Gaddesden for anyone who would like to avail of bar food and drinks. We follow parts of the Hertfordshire Way and Chiltern Way on this varied 10.5 mile walk. Allow about six hours including lunch stop. Rating: moderate
